Building and Pliumbing Specialist

Fountain Valley School, a selective and diverse boarding school, educates 250 students in grades 9–12 on a beautiful 1,100-acre campus in Colorado Springs, CO. Founded in 1930, the School provides a rigorous, global curriculum in academics, arts, athletics, and the outdoors.

The Position

The Building and Plumbing Specialist will work closely with the Director of Facilities to ensure the proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies, promoting workplace safety and environmental practices.

Key Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:   

  • Carry out regular maintenance of plumbing systems at commercial and residential levels
  • Perform installation of plumbing systems.
  • Inspect previously installed plumbing systems at commercial and residential locations.
  • Perform any necessary repairs to previously installed systems.
  • Respond to tickets for plumbing issues.
  • Keep up to date with current safety regulations and requirements for the various plumbing systems.
  • Work carefully to follow all current regulations for plumbing work to ensure that all installed systems pass inspections.
  • Keep detailed reports of work done in the ticketing system.
  • Provide information regarding plumbing system upkeep to the team.
  • Boiler and heat pump operation, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintenance and minor repairs of building systems.
  • Minor plumbing to include sink, toilet and other plumbing repairs.
  • Ability to climb ladders, identify roof leaks, change light bulbs, replace ceiling tiles and other related ladder work.
  • Assists as needed with grounds maintenance, snow removal, custodial functions.
  • Provides a wide range support function to all departments throughout the property such as special events coordination and set-ups.
  • Ability to travel inside Colorado Springs area to Nathrop, Colorado
  • Regular and reliable, in person attendance is required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and skills 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License.

Working Conditions

  • Environment: indoor office working with some outdoor events
  • Physical demands: able to sit and stand for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to lift 40 lb.
  • Working relationships: students, parents, outside vendors and all other employees  

Salary: $22 - 30, depending on education and experience
