Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Fountain Valley School, a selective and diverse boarding school, educates 250 students in grades 9–12 on a beautiful 1,100-acre campus in Colorado Springs, CO. Founded in 1930, the School provides a rigorous, global curriculum in academics, arts, athletics and the outdoors.

Position Summary: 

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator supports the development and execution of strategic communication efforts that enhance public awareness, drive enrollment, and strengthen the Fountain Valley School brand. Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, this role collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to promote the School’s mission and strategic priorities. A primary focus of this position will be supporting the School’s Summit 2030 capital campaign through targeted marketing, content creation, and campaign communications.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute campaign-specific marketing and communication materials across print, digital, email and social media channels to engage donors, alumni, families, and the broader school community.
  • Collaborate with advancement, admissions, and school leadership to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with the goals and vision of the Summit 2030 capital campaign.
  • Assist in planning and promoting campaign-related events and initiatives, including producing promotional content, coordinating outreach, and capturing campaign milestones to build momentum and visibility.
  • Support Communications team in publishing two electronic e-newsletters: Prairie Post (quarterly, story-driven) and FVS Weekly (weekly containing nuts-and-bolts info for current families), plus multiple other constituent communications.
  • Produce videos and other multimedia content.
  • Coordinate photography of sports teams and write relevant stories (season wrap-ups, playoff updates, etc.)
  • Academic program and department content
  • Oversee content on giving webpages, event forms, and event webpages.
  • Create, edit, and coordinate collateral across all communications channels.Gather information and help develop and implement storytelling ideas and vehicles for the School.
  • Monitor relevant rating sites (Google, Niche, Boarding School Review, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive communications timeline calendar to track email communications, events coverage, social media content, etc.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador, ensuring all content is consistent in style and quality.
  • Regular and reliable in person attendance
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, and/or related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field with proven results in planning and executing communication strategies and public relations programs
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and editorial communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and tone.
  • Demonstrated experience in educational environments, preferably within independent or K–12 schools.
  • Proficient in photography and videography, including shooting, editing, and producing content for digital platforms.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for events, meetings, and on-site content creation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Workspace, with the ability to learn new software and tools efficiently.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar).
  • Skilled in digital design and editing tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, etc.) or equivalent software.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems (CMS) for maintaining and updating web content.
  • Experience with Blackbaud products (e.g., Raiser's Edge, K–12 CMS) is preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment: Office and outdoor environments 
  • Physical Demands: able to sit, stand and lift 25 lbs. during a period of at least 8 hours per day, occasional after hours, weekend and/or weeknight obligations

Salary:$45,000 - $55,000, depending on education and experience
